Messaging and Alert API Glossary

In India’s commercial messaging ecosystem, DLT refers to the registration/governance framework used to identify Principal Entities, senders/headers, content templates, consent/preferences and the messaging chain for applicable commercial communication.

The identifier associated with a registered business/organization responsible for originating applicable commercial communication in India’s DLT ecosystem.

The registered sender identity associated with an SMS and the responsible business, subject to message category and telecom rules.

The identifier assigned to an approved message template containing fixed text and permitted variable positions.

A status update returned through the messaging/telecom chain indicating the downstream state of an SMS, such as delivered, failed or expired where available.

A short-lived code intended for one verification transaction or limited authentication purpose.

A programmatic interface that lets software request SMS sending, query message status and receive delivery events without manual panel operation.

An HTTP callback sent from one system to another when an event occurs, such as an SMS delivery-status change.

A technique that lets a client safely retry the same logical request without accidentally creating duplicate message sends.

SMS encoded using Unicode to support scripts and characters outside standard GSM-compatible text, often with different segment limits.
